When connecting the drain hose without an air gap, the high loop of the drain hose must be at least 12 inches (305 mm) and no more than 40 inches (1016 mm) from the base of the appliance to prevent siphoning. A low drain loop is a frequent cause of unexplained mid-cycle drain errors.
