5 technician insights for the LG LUDP8997SN Series Dishwashers

AE Error Diagnosis

For AE (leakage) errors, always tilt the machine toward the front to drain water from the base pan BEFORE resetting and re-running. Water sitting on the float switch will continuously trigger AE. Remove the water, identify the leak source, and repair before cycling power.

AE Error Reporting

LG requires detailed technical remarks for AE errors on repair reports. Always document: whether the unit is level (use a digital level, not a bubble level), detergent and rinse aid brand/type, number of cycles run, most-used cycle, inlet water temperature, and whether the customer opened the door mid-cycle. Missing this information can lead to claim denial.

Garbage Disposal Knockout

OE errors after new installation are almost always caused by the garbage disposal knockout plug not being removed. The drain hose can appear connected and tight while the knockout plug completely blocks water flow. Always confirm plug removal with the customer or check directly on every installation call.

Inlet Water Temperature

For HE errors, before assuming a faulty heater, measure the inlet water supply temperature. If the incoming water is above 185°F (possible in commercial/restaurant settings or after recent water heater adjustment), the dishwasher will trigger HE as an overheat protection. Adjust hot water supply to max 149°F before replacing any parts.
