Gas Valve Operation

Gas models

The gas ignition sequence is: Valve 1 opens (pilot), igniter energizes and heats to approximately 2499°F, flame detector opens (bimetal opens at 370°F max), igniter de-energizes, Valve 2 opens for main flame, flame detector closes (at 320°F). If Valve 2 never opens, the most common cause is a failed flame detector or a weak igniter that does not heat the detector to opening temperature.

Heater Resistance Values

The electric heater resistance values (terminal 1-2 = 10 Ω, terminal 1-3 = 10 Ω, terminal 2-3 = 20 Ω) are nominal low values. If measuring 18–22 Ω on terminals 1-2 or 1-3 and 9–11 Ω (parallel) on terminals 2-3, the heater is serviceable. The service manual lists 10 Ω nominal — expect ±10-20% variation in practice.

Inlet Hose / Steam

Before moving the dryer for service, always empty the steam feeder first. Moving the dryer with a full steam generator can cause water to spill inside the cabinet onto electrical components.
