5 technician insights for the LG DLEX3570V Series Dryers
Centrifugal Switch
The centrifugal switch in the motor is what gates 240VAC to the heater on electric models and 120VAC to the gas valve on gas models. If the motor runs but there is no heat, always check the centrifugal switch before condemning the heater or gas valve. The stop-mode contact should have 2–30Ω resistance and the run-mode contact should have less than 10Ω. A worn or stuck centrifugal switch will prevent heating even if all other components are good.
Distilled Water Warning
Never fill the steam feeder with distilled or de-ionized water. The water level sensor relies on the natural mineral conductivity of tap water to detect the water level. Distilled water has insufficient mineral content and the sensor will falsely indicate an empty feeder, triggering bE error or preventing steam generation even with a full tank.
ESD Protection for PCB
The electronic control assembly is highly sensitive to electrostatic discharge. Always use an anti-static wrist strap connected to an unpainted metal surface of the appliance before handling the PCB. If no wrist strap is available, repeatedly touch unpainted metal to discharge static before each contact. Handle the PCB by its edges only — never touch component leads or connector pins. Undetected ESD damage may cause delayed failures weeks after the repair.
Exhaust Duct Material
Only use rigid 4-inch metal duct or UL-listed flexible metal (foil) duct for exhaust. Never use plastic or vinyl duct — these hold lint, restrict airflow, and create fire hazards. When taping duct joints, use only real metallic foil duct tape. The inexpensive canvas-backed tape (often improperly labeled 'duct tape') dries out within months, cracks, leaks lint into wall cavities, and is a significant fire risk. This is stated directly in the service manual for a reason.
