Makes unusual noise

Several noises are normal during dryer operation: 'Thumping' from drum rotation (check rollers/baffles only if excessive), airflow sounds from the blower, and clicking from the motor start relay. Abnormal noises include: whistling from door seal (check seal condition), scraping (felt seal out of position or worn front bearings), roaring (blower wheel rubbing on housing or bad motor bearings), and squealing (sticky or frayed belt).

When diagnosing abnormal motor noise, check the plate springs on the Bracket Motor. If the plate springs have separated or become loose from the bracket, the motor will vibrate excessively and create noise. This is a common overlooked cause of motor-area noise that does not require motor replacement.

After installing the dryer, use Smart Install mode to verify everything works: Press Adjust Time + Temp for 7 seconds. It tests the moisture sensor (touch sensor) and the motor/heater in two steps. If both pass, display shows 'OK'. If motor or heater fails, display shows 'HC'. This is faster than running a full cycle to verify installation.

Noise from the motor area can be caused by debris (lint, small objects) stuck on the blower fan wings, creating an imbalance. Remove any alien particles from the fan and check that the fan nut is properly tightened. This is a different problem from blower housing rubbing and does not require fan replacement if the fan itself is undamaged.
