5 technician insights for the Samsung DV435ETGJW Series Dryers (2024)

CN7 harness — single connector for all sensors

All moisture and temperature sensors route through the single CN7 7-pin connector. Pin assignments: Pin 2 (Yellow) + Pin 7 (White) = Cycling Thermistor2 (238.231KΩ), Pin 3 (Blue) + Pin 6 (Red) = Cycling Thermistor1 (10KΩ), Pin 4 (Pink) + Pin 5 (Orange) = Sensor Bars (∞Ω dry, 190Ω wet). Disconnect CN7 to test all sensors in one procedure.

Dropped screws recovery through duct exhaust hole

If screws for fixing the power cord are dropped into the dryer during service, they can be recovered through the duct exhaust hole. Remove the Duct Exhaust (1 screw from Back-Cover, 1 screw from Duct-Exhaust) and retrieve the dropped screw through the hole. This avoids a full disassembly just to retrieve a dropped fastener.

Dual heater vs. single heater — two configurations to know

This dryer platform has both DUAL and SINGLE heater configurations. DUAL heater: PIN 2-3 = 13Ω, PIN 1-2 = 34Ω. SINGLE heater: PIN 1-3 = 10Ω. When testing, determine which configuration is installed before comparing resistance values. One element of a dual heater can fail while the other works, resulting in reduced heating rather than no heating.

Gas model amp draw — useful for diagnosing fuse blowing

Gas models

During ignition, the gas dryer draws 6 amps. With the burner ON, the dryer draws 4.5 amps. If the dryer is drawing amperages above this, the house wiring, fuse box, or circuit breaker is suspected to be at fault — not the dryer. Also check for igniter harness loose and shorted to base, incorrect wiring shorted to ground, or drive motor winding shorting to ground.
