4 technician insights for the Samsung DV52J8 Series Dryers (2015)

Do not replace PCB without proper diagnosis

The PCB assembly is designed to be reliable and should not be replaced based on guess work. Samsung explicitly warns: 'do not replace the P.C.B assembly by the wrong diagnosis.' Follow the complete trouble diagnosis procedure before concluding that the PCB is faulty. The PCB is always the LAST item in every diagnostic flowchart, after all other components have been eliminated.

Live voltage on PCB — electric shock risk

Electric models

AC220-240V is applied to the triac T1 and T2 on the main PCB. Strong and weak electricity are mixed together on the board. Never touch PCB components while the dryer is plugged in. Even experienced technicians should treat the PCB with caution.

Vent thermistor 2 has very different resistance from cycling thermistor

The vent thermistor 2 (only on VentSensor models) has a resistance of 238.23 KΩ at 25°C, which is dramatically different from the cycling thermistor's 10KΩ at 25°C. Do not confuse the two. The vent thermistor connects on Yellow wire Pin 2 to White wire Pin 7. Measuring the wrong pair of wires will give misleading results.
