Restricted vent system — the #1 cause of heating errors
A restricted exhaust vent system is the most common root cause of overheating errors (tC, hC) and poor drying performance. Before replacing any heating components (thermistor, thermostat, heater), always check the vent system first. Common restrictions include: too-long duct runs, too many elbows, flex ductwork, outside hood damper stuck closed, or lint accumulation in the duct. This dryer has VentSensor technology (on DV8700J Gas models) that monitors vent condition and notifies with a red LED indicator when cleaning is needed.
