Restricted vent system — the #1 cause of heating errors

A restricted exhaust vent system is the most common root cause of overheating errors (tE, hE). Before replacing any heating components (thermistor, thermostat, heater), always check the vent system first. Common restrictions include: too-long duct runs, too many elbows, flex ductwork, outside hood damper stuck closed, or lint accumulation in the duct.

Three thermostats in this model — not just two

Unlike smaller Samsung dryers that have two thermostats, this 9.5 cu ft model has three thermostats (Thermostat 1, 2, and 3). Thermostat 1 is the 85C/25A thermal cut-off (high-limit). All three should read < 1Ohm when good and infinity when failed. Make sure to test all three during a no-heat diagnosis.
