5 technician insights for the Samsung DV56H9 Series Dryers (2018)

Heater flowchart 10 ohms vs component test 13/34 ohms

The 'clothes not dried' diagnostic flowchart references checking the heater coil for approximately 10Ohm resistance, while the component testing section specifies 13Ohm (PIN 2-3) and 34Ohm (PIN 1-2). The flowchart value appears to be a simplified full-circuit resistance check. For precise diagnosis, always use the individual pin-to-pin values from the component testing section.

Ring terminals vs. spade terminals at power connections

Samsung recommends ring terminals over spade terminals for power cord connections to the terminal block. Spade terminals can work loose over time, causing arcing, overheating, and power delivery problems. Using ring terminals ensures a more reliable and safer connection. This is the first thing shown in the 'power does not work' diagnostic flowchart.

Sensor bars — infinity without laundry, 190 ohms with wet clothes

When testing moisture sensor bars, disconnect the harness and measure between Pink wire Pin 4 and Orange wire Pin 5. Without laundry touching the bars, resistance should be approximately infinity. With wet clothes on the bars, resistance should be approximately 190Ohm +/-10%. If resistance does not change between states, clean sensor bars with rubbing alcohol before replacing.

Blower impeller blockage can cause dryer to run briefly then stop

If the dryer runs for a few minutes then stops, in addition to low voltage, check the blower impeller for blockage. Foreign material trapped in the blower housing can restrict airflow, cause rapid overheating, and trigger the safety thermostat to shut down the dryer. Also check the motor actuator.
