Restricted vent system -- the number one cause of heating errors

A restricted exhaust vent system is the most common root cause of overheating errors (tC, HC). Before replacing any heating components (thermistor, thermostat, heater), always check the vent system first. Common restrictions include: too-long duct runs, too many elbows, flex ductwork, outside hood damper stuck closed, or lint accumulation in the duct. This dryer has a Vent Sensor (DV6000R models) and Vent Blockage Test (all models via Smart Install) to help diagnose vent issues.

Eco Dry affects cycle time significantly

The Eco Dry function can increase drying time up to 3 times on the NORMAL cycle depending on temperature and load, while reducing power consumption. If a customer complains about extended drying times, check if Eco Dry is enabled. Eco Dry is enabled by default when TIME DRY is selected. The cycle time difference can be substantial: 75 min with Eco Dry vs. 42 min (DV6000R) or 39 min (DV6300B) without.
