14mm socket required for blower fan removal

The blower fan is secured to the motor shaft with a 14mm nut. A socket set with 6-inch extension is listed in the required tools. To remove the fan, lock the blower wheel with a screwdriver to prevent rotation while loosening the 14mm nut. This is a commonly needed procedure as lint and debris around the blower fan are frequent causes of noise and airflow problems.

Moisture sensor test through Smart Install mode

The moisture sensor can be tested without disassembly using Smart Install mode. Enter Smart Install (Dryness + Time for 7 seconds), then open the door. The sensor state appears: 0 = sensor open (dry), 1 = sensor short (wet). Place a wet cloth on the sensor bars to verify proper function. After reassembly of Case Filter or Drum Front, always verify sensor operation through this test mode.

Motor centrifugal switch — different contact states for start vs run

The drive motor has a centrifugal switch with 6 contacts (1M-6M). In the start position, contacts 1M-2M, 3M-4M, and 5M-6M are all closed. Once the motor reaches operating speed, the centrifugal switch opens contacts 3M-4M (start winding disconnects) while 1M-2M and 5M-6M remain closed (run winding stays energized). If the centrifugal switch fails to open, the start winding will overheat. If it fails to close on startup, the motor will not start.
