DV8500A vs DV8600A — same specs, different styling
The DV8500A (DVE(G)50A8500*) and DV8600A (DVE(G)50BG8300*) share identical specifications: 7.5 cu.ft capacity, same heater rating, same cycle times, same energy factors. The differences are cosmetic: DV8500A has tint door with silver spray deco, DV8600A has black door deco. The DV8600A does not include a drying rack. Service procedures and parts are essentially interchangeable.
Door reversal is a detailed 13-step process
Door reversal involves removing the door hinge, switching the lever holder to the opposite side, moving the support screw on the back of the hinge, and reversing the hinge. The support screw on the back of the door hinge holds the door against the frame while you unscrew the hinge screws. Pay attention to the protrusion on the back of the hinge being pressed into the cut-out before tightening.
Door switch insert direction matters during reassembly
When reassembling the door switch to the Frame Front, the insert direction is critical. Installing the door switch in the wrong orientation will cause it to malfunction and may trigger dC or dF error codes. The manual specifically warns to be careful of insert direction. After reassembly, verify the door switch works properly.
