Smart Install mode entry code is 'SC' not 'AS'
On DVE(G)50R5400*/5200* models, pressing Adjust Time Up + Temp for 7 seconds enters Smart Install mode with a display of 'SC'. This is a quick two-step diagnostic: Step 1 checks the touch/moisture sensor (0=open, 1=short/wet), Step 2 checks motor and heater (OK=pass, HC=fail). This is faster and more reliable than running a full cycle to verify installation.
Drum removal requires carefully spreading the cabinet
When removing the drum, you may need to carefully spread the cabinet to get extra clearance. However, take care not to deform the cabinet. Excessive force can permanently bend the cabinet panels, causing alignment issues with the drum, door seal, and other components during reassembly.
14mm socket required for blower fan nut
The blower fan is secured to the motor shaft with a 14mm nut. A socket set with 6-inch extension is required. Lock the blower wheel with a screwdriver before attempting to remove the nut. A jig tool is also available for disassembling the fan on the back. Having the correct tools prevents damage to the motor shaft.
Spring plates on motor bracket can cause noise
The motor is held in place by 2 spring plates on the Motor-Bracket, removed with long-nose pliers. If these spring plates become loose or separated from the bracket, the motor will vibrate excessively and create noise. This is a commonly overlooked cause of motor-area noise that does not require motor replacement.
