Error Code tC
Your dryer's temperature sensor isn't reading correctly
Moderate
Address soon - your appliance may not work properly
Also displayed as: tC
What This Means
Clogged lint screen restricting airflow and causing abnormal temperature readings; Restricted vent system causing heat buildup; Thermistor resistance out of range (open or shorted)
What actually causes this:
Usually a clogged lint screen or blocked exhaust vent — restricted airflow causes the sensor to misread temperatures.
First Thing to Check
Pull out the lint screen and clean off all the lint, then check that your exhaust vent hose isn't kinked or blocked.
Parts Involved
How to Fix
- 1
1. Check and clean the lint screen
- 2
2. Check if the vent system is restricted
- 3
3. Measure thermistor resistance: should be 10KOhm at 25 degrees C (77 degrees F) for electric models, or 238.23KOhm at 25 degrees C for gas models
- 4
4. If thermistor resistance is out of range, replace the thermistor
