Good to know

3 technician insights for the Samsung DVE55A7300 Series Dryers (2024)

Restricted vent system -- the #1 cause of heating errors

A restricted exhaust vent system is the most common root cause of overheating errors (tC, tC5, HC, CLg). Before replacing any heating components (thermistor, thermostat, heater), always check the vent system first. Common restrictions include: too-long duct runs, too many elbows, flex ductwork, outside hood damper stuck closed, or lint accumulation in the duct. Use 4-inch rigid metal exhaust duct for best performance.

Try this first

Thermostat 3 (thermal cut-off) -- a third thermostat many techs miss

In addition to Thermostat 1 and Thermostat 2, this dryer has a Thermostat 3 which is the thermal cut-off. It is rated at 85 degrees C, 25A for the DUAL heater configuration. If it trips, the dryer will not heat at all and the thermostat must be replaced -- it does not reset. Always check all three thermostats when diagnosing a no-heat condition.

Eco Dry default setting causes customer confusion

The Eco Dry function is enabled by default on NORMAL and TIME DRY cycles. When Eco Dry is on, the dryer performs an air dry process at the beginning of the cycle to reduce energy consumption. This air dry process does not use heated air, so customers may report that the dryer 'isn't heating' when it first starts. Items may also not be completely dry at the end of the cycle. Turn off Eco Dry for customers who complain about these issues.
