Restricted vent system - the number one cause of heating errors
A restricted exhaust vent system is the most common root cause of overheating errors (tC, tC5, HC, CLg). Before replacing any heating components (thermistor, thermostat, heater), always check the vent system first. Common restrictions include: too-long duct runs, too many elbows, flex ductwork, outside hood damper stuck closed, or lint accumulation in the duct. Use 4-inch rigid metal exhaust duct. The manual explicitly states expert personnel should perform vent cleaning measures.
Eco Dry affects initial cycle behavior - not a malfunction
When Eco Dry is enabled (default on Normal and Time Dry cycles), the dryer performs an air dry process at the beginning of the cycle to reduce energy consumption. This air dry process does not use heated air, so items may feel cold initially and may not be completely dry at the end. Customers may report this as 'dryer not heating' - check Eco Dry setting before diagnosing a heating problem. Turn off Eco Dry option to resolve.
