Good to know
3 technician insights for the Samsung DVE55A7300 Series Dryers (2024)
Normal noises vs. abnormal noises -- know the difference
It is normal for the dryer to hum due to the high velocity of air moving through the dryer drum, fan, or exhaust system. Normal objects in pockets (coins, buttons, nails, etc.) can cause noise -- remove promptly during drying cycle. Abnormal noises to investigate: excessive thumping (check rollers), scraping sounds (check felt seal), roaring (blower wheel rubbing or motor bearings), squealing (belt issues). Always ensure dryer is leveled properly.
Spring plate separation from motor bracket -- overlooked noise source
When diagnosing motor-area noise, check the 2 spring plates on the Motor Bracket. These are removed using long-nose pliers during disassembly and must be properly reinstalled. If the spring plates have separated or become loose from the bracket, the motor will vibrate excessively and create noise that mimics a bad motor bearing, leading to unnecessary motor replacement.
Use long tools for thermistor screw on Assy Drum Back
The thermistor on this model is accessed by removing just the Top Cover and 1 screw from the Assy Drum Back. However, the manual specifically notes to use long tools to remove the screw. Standard-length drivers may not reach the screw, and using the wrong tool risks stripping it or dropping it into the dryer.
