4 technician insights for the Samsung DV45M5500 Series Dryers (2024)

Do not replace PCB without proper diagnosis

The PCB assembly is designed to be reliable and should not be replaced based on guesswork. Follow the complete trouble diagnosis procedure before concluding that the PCB is faulty. The manual explicitly warns against replacing the PCB assembly by wrong diagnosis.

Live voltage on PCB -- electric shock risk

Electric models

AC220-240V is applied to the triac T1 and T2 on the main PCB. Even when the dryer appears off, dangerous voltage may be present on the PCB. Strong and weak electricity are mixed together on the board. Never touch PCB components while the dryer is plugged in.

Two different thermistors with very different resistance values

This dryer uses two thermistors with vastly different resistance values: Thermistor 1 reads 10KOhm at 25C (tested Blue Pin 3 to Red Pin 6 on CN7), while Thermistor 2 reads 238.23KOhm at 25C (tested Yellow Pin 2 to White Pin 7 on CN7). Do not confuse the two -- using the wrong expected value will lead to incorrect diagnosis. The tC error relates to Thermistor 1 and tC5 relates to Thermistor 2.
