5 technician insights for the Samsung DVE45T3200 Series Dryers (2020)

Vent Blockage Test requires cool dryer and empty drum

The Vent Blockage Test will give inaccurate results if: the drum is not empty (triggers C1 code), the dryer is too hot or too cold (triggers Ct code if below 32 degrees F or above 104 degrees F). If the dryer was recently used, run AIR FLUFF for several minutes to cool it down before testing. Also, it must be the first procedure entered after power-on.

Moisture sensor test through Smart Install mode

The moisture sensor can be tested without disassembly using Smart Install mode. Enter Smart Install (Dryness + Time for 7 seconds), then open the door. The sensor state appears: 0 = sensor open (dry), 1 = sensor short (wet). Place a wet cloth on the sensor bars to verify proper function. After reassembly of Case Filter or Drum Front, always verify sensor operation through this test mode.

14mm socket required for blower fan removal

The blower fan is secured to the motor shaft with a 14mm nut. A socket set with 6-inch extension is listed in the required tools. To remove the fan, lock the blower wheel with a screwdriver to prevent rotation while loosening the 14mm nut. This is a commonly needed procedure as lint and debris around the blower fan are frequent causes of noise and airflow problems.

Normal dryer sounds versus abnormal sounds

Coins, loose buttons, and nails in pockets can cause rattling — remove promptly. It is normal to hear the gas valve or heating element cycle on and off during drying. The dryer normally hums due to high velocity air moving through the drum, fan, or exhaust system. Abnormal sounds include: thumping (check drum rollers), squealing (belt or idler pulley), roaring (blower rubbing housing or bad motor bearings).
