What This Means

What actually causes this:
Most often caused by a clogged exhaust vent that traps hot air inside the dryer, or the heating element has burned out.
First Thing to Check
Check your exhaust vent — disconnect it from the back of the dryer and look for lint buildup inside.

2. Measure thermistor resistance: should be 10KOhm at 25C (77F)

3. Check thermostat resistance: should be < 1Ohm (infinity means replace)

4. Check heater resistance: DUAL heater -- 13Ohm (PIN 2-3), 34Ohm (PIN 1-2); SINGLE heater -- 10Ohm (PIN 1-3)

5. Check exhaust vent system for restrictions or blockages

6. If resistance is infinity on heater, replace heater assembly
