Control board and inlet valve not grounded -- electric shock risk during servicing

Electric models

The control board and inlet valve are intentionally not grounded and may present a risk of electric shock ONLY during servicing. Service personnel must not contact these parts while the dryer is energized. This is a critical safety warning that appears in both the Safety Instructions and Maintenance sections.

Disconnect power first

DUAL vs SINGLE heater element resistance values

The electric heater comes in both DUAL and SINGLE configurations with different resistance values. DUAL heater: PIN 2-3 = 13 ohm, PIN 1-2 = 36 ohm. SINGLE heater: PIN 1-3 = 10 ohm. One element can fail while the other works in the DUAL configuration, resulting in reduced heating rather than no heating at all. Always check all pin combinations.

Electric vs Gas component differences

Electric models

Electric models (DVE prefix) use a 5300W heating element at 240V with thermostats and thermal cut-offs rated at specific temperatures. Gas models (DVG prefix) use a gas burner assembly with gas valve (25M01A), igniter (101D, 40-120 ohm), radiant/flame sensor (10RS), and a hi-limit thermostat (N60T21, 230F-50F, 250V 25A). The thermistor resistance may differ: 10K ohm (electric) vs 238.23K ohm (gas) at 25 deg C. Always verify which model you are servicing.

Frame Front removal -- check tabs and door switch after reassembly

When removing the Frame Front, note that it sits on 3 tabs across the bottom that must be lifted over. After reassembly, always check that the Frame Front is fixed to the Frame well AND that the Door-Switch works properly. A poorly reassembled Frame Front can cause door switch issues that trigger dC or dF error codes. Do not need to remove Cover Top for Frame Front removal process.
