6 technician insights for the this appliance
Gas igniter -- extremely fragile component
Gas modelsThe hot surface igniter (101D) is explicitly called out as fragile in the manual. When removing the burner assembly, use extreme care to avoid damage to the igniter. Resistance should be 40-400 ohm. Do not touch the ceramic element with bare hands as oils can cause premature failure. The manual uses a special warning symbol for this component.
Live voltage on PCB -- electric shock risk
Electric modelsAC220-240V is applied to the triac T1 and T2 on the main PCB. Even when the dryer appears off, dangerous voltage may be present on the PCB. Strong and weak electricity are mixed together on the board. Never touch PCB components while the dryer is plugged in.
Powder coat drum -- special cleaning required
This model uses a Powder Coat (Gray) drum, not stainless steel. When cleaning the drum interior, use a damp cloth with a mild, non-abrasive cleaner suitable for easily marred surfaces. Do not use abrasive substances. Some dye transfer stains may be visible but will not affect subsequent loads. Tumble old towels to remove remaining cleaning substances.
Two different thermistor values -- Electric vs Gas model
Electric modelsThe electric model uses a 10K ohm thermistor at 25 deg C, while the gas model uses a 238.23K ohm thermistor at 25 deg C. These are dramatically different values. When diagnosing tC errors, use the correct reference value for the model type. Additionally, the gas model has a radiant sensor with < 1 ohm resistance that is separate from the thermistor.
