6 technician insights for the this appliance

Drum removal requires careful cabinet spreading

When removing the drum, you may need to carefully spread the cabinet to get extra clearance. However, take care not to deform the cabinet — if bent too far, the frame will not return to proper shape and the dryer will have alignment issues. Work slowly and use minimal force.

Belt must be centered on drum during reassembly

When reassembling the drum belt after drum removal, the belt must be located in the middle of the drum. An off-center belt will cause tracking issues, uneven wear, noise, and potentially premature belt failure. The manual specifically warns about this during drum reassembly.

Belt reassembly alignment marks

When reassembling the drum belt, it must be located between the 2 red arrows (alignment marks) on the drum. Incorrect belt positioning will cause belt slipping, incorrect tumbler speed, and improper drying. This is a commonly missed step during drum reassembly.

Belt and Roller Service Best Practices

Samsung belt, idler pulley, and drum rollers should be replaced as a kit — failure of one accelerates wear on others Early-production idler pulleys (pre-2013) used sleeve bearings that seize from lint intrusion — verify replacement is ball-bearing version When belt breaks, inspect idler pulley for flat spots or melted areas — a seized pulley will melt a flat spot on itself before snapping the belt Drum rollers are sold in pairs or kits of 4 — replace all at once for balanced drum support
