Defrost Heater Error / Defrosting Failure
Moderate
Address soon - your appliance may not work properly
How to Fix
- 1
1. Inspect the door gasket for damage. If gasket is damaged or allows warm air infiltration, replace the door gasket.
- 2
2. Measure the defrost heater resistance at CON9 Pin 5 to Pin 13. Expected: 42 to 50 ohms. If outside this range, check Fuse-M continuity (should be 0 to 0.1 ohm). Replace Fuse-M or defrost heater as applicable.
- 3
3. Enter Test Mode 3 (push test button 3 times, display shows '33 33') to force defrost. Measure voltage at CON9 Pin 5 to Pin 13. Expected: 112 to 116 V AC. If voltage is not present, replace Main PCB.
- 4
4. Verify defrost sensor resistance at CON8 Pin 26 to Pin 25 is approximately 22 kΩ at room temperature; if reading is 0 or open/infinite, replace defrost sensor.
- 5
5. Enter Test Mode 1 (push test button 1 time). Measure voltage at CON9 Pin 5 to Pin 13. Should read 0 V when heater is off. If voltage reads non-zero in normal mode, replace Main PCB.
- 6
6. Check for drain tube blockage; clear any ice or debris from the drain tube.
- 7
7. If all above check out, replace Main PCB.
