High-Side Cycle Refrigerant Leak / Sealed System Problem

Moderate

Address soon - your appliance may not work properly

Also displayed as: E CH

How to Fix

  1. 1

Use LG SVC App Step 1 to determine if problem is compressor, sealed system, or customer emotional fault. Without SVC App, use temperature gun.

  2. 2

Check PCB output voltages to rule out PCB fault.

  3. 3

Measure high-pressure side (drier) and low-pressure side (compressor process pipe) pressures. Check return time to equalization: if more than 15 minutes, sealed system is blocked.

  4. 4

Check equalization pressure to confirm refrigerant charge level.

  5. 5

Use SVC App Step 2 or charge nitrogen/R134a to locate leak.

  6. 6

Inspect high-pressure side parts: condenser, drier, condenser outlet, drier inlet, drier outlet.

  7. 7

If no high-pressure leak found, check low-pressure side: evaporator inlet/outlet, suction pipe.

  8. 8

Repair leak, replace drier, and recharge with R600a (60g).

  9. 9

After repair, error clears automatically when freezer reaches 14°F or below.

  10. 10

Force-clear error if needed: with door open, press F key + R key 3 times.

  11. 11

Check for UV dye at next visit to confirm no re-leak.
