Also displayed as: HC1 (no display during operation)

What This Means

Heater is out of order; Heater is improperly connected; Heater connector disconnected; Heater element burned out or open circuit; Main PBA heater relay defective

What actually causes this:

The heating element burned out, or the dishwasher's water level is too low for the heater to run safely

First Thing to Check

Check if your dishes feel cold after a cycle — if so, the heater has failed

Parts Involved

HeaterMain PBAThermistorWire Harness

How to Fix

  1. 1

    1. Check and reconnect the heater connectors

  2. 2

    2. Measure heater resistance between both ends — normal: approximately 13.5 Ohm

  3. 3

    3. Check whether water level in tub is OK — if pressure switch detects low level, safety program prevents heater from operating

  4. 4

    4. Check the drain hose installation condition

  5. 5

    5. Check thermistor operation — faulty thermistor gives incorrect temperature readings

  6. 6

  7. 7

    7. If heater tests normal, replace Main PBA
