Error Code tC
Your dryer's temperature sensor isn't reading correctly
Moderate
Address soon - your appliance may not work properly
Also displayed as: tC
What This Means
Clogged lint screen restricting airflow and causing abnormal temperature readings; Restricted vent system causing heat buildup affecting thermistor readings; Thermistor resistance out of range (open or shorted); Disconnected or damaged thermistor wiring harness
What actually causes this:
Usually a clogged lint screen or blocked exhaust vent — restricted airflow causes the sensor to misread temperatures.
First Thing to Check
Pull out the lint screen and clean off all the lint, then check that your exhaust vent hose isn't kinked or blocked.
Parts Involved
How to Fix
- 1
1. Check and clean the lint screen
- 2
2. Inspect the exhaust vent system for restrictions or blockages
- 3
3. Disconnect harness and test cycling thermistor: Blue wire Pin 3 to Red wire Pin 6
- 4
4. Measure thermistor resistance: should be approximately 10K ohms at 25 degrees C (77 degrees F)
- 5
5. If thermistor resistance is out of range (open or significantly deviated), replace the thermistor
