Also displayed as: HC
What This Means
Thermistor resistance out of range; Main PCB malfunction; Restricted vent system causing excessive heat buildup; Heater malfunction; Thermostat failure
What actually causes this:
Most often caused by a clogged exhaust vent that traps hot air inside the dryer, or the heating element has burned out.

Parts Involved
How to Fix
- 1
1. Check the PCB and thermistor connections
- 2
2. Measure thermistor resistance: should be 10K ohm at 25 degrees C (77 degrees F)
- 3
3. Check thermostat resistance: should be < 1 ohm (infinity means replace)
- 4
4. Check heater resistance: SINGLE heater 10 ohm (PIN 1-3); DUAL heater 13 ohm (PIN 2-3) and 34 ohm (PIN 1-2)
- 5
5. Check exhaust vent system for restrictions or blockages
- 6
6. If resistance is infinity on heater, replace heater assembly
