What This Means

Defrost sensor connector at CN30 unseated; Open circuit or broken wire to defrost thermistor; Short circuit in defrost thermistor

What actually causes this:

The sensor that tells the fridge when to stop defrosting the freezer coils has lost its connection or failed.

First Thing to Check

Run a forced defrost cycle from test mode and listen for the defrost heater to energize; if no heat, the sensor circuit is suspect.

How to Fix

  1. 1

    Measure voltage between Main PCB CN30 pin 1 and pin 4; should be within 4.5V–1.0V

  2. 2

    Measure resistance between CN30 pins 4 and 7 and compare to temperature table

  3. 3

    Inspect connector and wire routing behind freezer evaporator cover
