Cool Select Room defrost heater circuit has failed

Moderate

Address soon - your appliance may not work properly

Also displayed as: 22E

What This Means

CV defrost heater housing connector separated at CN70; Heater wire open or shorted; Thermal fuse blown (230°F/110°C); Bimetal thermostat stuck open; Failed CV defrost heater

What actually causes this:

Thermal fuse blown on the Cool Select evaporator heater assembly; this is the most common failure point.

First Thing to Check

Unplug the refrigerator and measure resistance at CN70 pin 3 to pin 1 — infinite resistance means open circuit; check the thermal fuse.

Parts Involved

CV defrost heater (AC120V, 121W)Bimetal thermostat (BT-121-M, Off 140°F/60°C)Thermal fuse (230°F/110°C, 120V/15A)Main PCB CN70 pin 3

How to Fix

  1. 1

    Disconnect Main PCB CN70

  2. 2

Measure resistance between CN70 pin 3 and pin 1

  3. 3

0 Ohm → heater shorted; ∞ Ohm → heater or fuse open

  4. 4

Check bimetal and thermal fuse on CV evaporator
