5 technician insights for the LG LRMVS3006D Series Refrigerators (2020)

Low-Side Leak Repair

When a low-side refrigerant leak is found, moisture from air has almost certainly entered the system (low side is below atmospheric pressure during a leak). Replace both the leaking part AND the compressor, plus install a new drier — failure to replace the compressor risks carbonization of compressor oil.

Pressure Diagnosis

For E CH/CL sealed system diagnosis: equalization time under 5 minutes is normal. 5~15 minutes is borderline. Over 15 minutes confirms restriction. Equalization pressure above 40 psi with a long equalization time points to compressor failure, not a leak.

Sealed System

Install a UV (dye) drier after any sealed system repair where the leak location was difficult to find. The fluorescent material circulates with oil and refrigerant, allowing UV light and goggles to detect the precise leak point on a follow-up visit.

Water System

High water supply pressure from the shutoff valve can cause water to overshoot the fill cup into the ice bin, resulting in clumped ice. If the customer reports water flooding the ice bin, check supply pressure and recommend a pressure regulator or partially closing the shutoff valve.
