Defrost cycle automatic operation
Defrost cycle runs automatically every 6-48 hours depending on usage. First defrost cycle occurs at 6 hours concurrent freezing of both compartments. During defrost: heater warms evaporator to 50-53°F, water drains to collection pan below, defrost duration typically 20-30 minutes. Normal operation resumes after pause time of 10±1 minutes.
Forced defrost runs both compartments simultaneously
When using forced defrost (Fd mode), both the freezer and fridge compartments defrost at the same time. Defrost returns to cooling when the defrost sensor reaches 50F (10C) for freezer or 53.6F (12C) for fridge. This is useful for diagnosing frost buildup issues in both compartments at once.
Knocking noise from shelves
Knocking or branch-breaking noises when doors are opened/closed come from liner and shelf contact due to air pressure fluctuation. Also occurs from thermal expansion/contraction of liners. Fix for freezer: replace trim shelves with service versions. Fix for fridge: attach noise-preventing trim shelves (not factory-installed). Also check if shelves wobble — make them sit firmly.
