6 technician insights for the this appliance
Connector pin insertion depth critical
PCB connectors (CN20, CN40, CN60, CN90) must be fully inserted until resistance stop is felt - about 5-10mm into female connector. Partially inserted connectors will show intermittent sensor voltage or loss of signal. Inspect all connector pins for corrosion, bent pins, or dirt. Corroded pins should be cleaned with fine contact cleaner and soft brush.
Door switch logic gates fan operation
Both refrigerator and freezer door switches must be closed (door switches open circuit when door is closed) before compressor and fans will operate normally. If door remains open, compressor enters minimal operation and fans don't run. This is why customers report 'nothing works' when door is accidentally left ajar. Check door switches first in multiple failure scenarios.
Humidity sensor output varies across full range
Humidity sensor (HTG3515CH/HTG3535C) is analog device with output voltage varying from 985mV at 0% RH to 3685mV at 100% RH. Linear output across range. Normal operating voltage check: 0.6V-4.6V. Sensor has ~50Ω resistance when functioning. This sensor is optional on some models and may not be present on all RF28R variants.
Load condition display shows PCB health not component health
Load condition display mode (page 65-66) shows what the MICOM is commanding to turn on - NOT whether components are actually operating. If LEDs show fan commands but fan doesn't run, problem is in fan motor or wiring, not PCB. If LEDs don't blink at all, PCB or MICOM is faulty. Always check both: PCB output AND component response.
