3 technician insights for the Samsung WA50R5400A Series Washers (2022)

Shaft nut direction is counterintuitive

The shaft nut on the pulsator/clutch assembly uses reverse threading: release the nut in a clockwise direction (opposite of normal) and fasten in a counterclockwise direction. Technicians unfamiliar with this will strip the nut or damage the shaft.

F-DDM vs DD motor types across models

The WA50 and WA54 models use F-DDM (Full Direct Drive Motor) while the WA52M7750 uses a standard DD (Direct Drive) motor. The F-DDM has a max spin of 750 RPM while the DD motor reaches 800 RPM. Parts are NOT interchangeable between these motor types even though they share the same clutch assembly design.

Shaft nut has reverse threading — clockwise loosens, counterclockwise tightens

The shaft nut that holds the spin basket has reverse (left-hand) threading. To release the nut, turn it in a clockwise direction. To fasten the nut, turn it counterclockwise. This catches many technicians off guard and can lead to stripped threads if forced in the wrong direction. A JIG wrench is required for removal.
