5 technician insights for the Samsung WF42H5000AW Series Washers (2014)

SUdS is a normal protective operation

The SUdS/Sud code is not a malfunction — it is a designed safety feature to prevent suds from interfering with the water level sensor. The washer automatically removes excess foam and resumes the normal cycle. Educate the customer to use less HE detergent rather than dispatching a technician.

Water level sensor hook is fragile

The hook-type water level sensor relies on plastic hook elasticity for installation. Applying too much force when pushing it out of the bracket spring will snap the hook, requiring a full sensor replacement instead of a simple reseat.

Winter freezing causes multiple error codes

In cold climates, frozen water lines can trigger LE (water level), nF/nF1 (water supply), nd (drain), OE (overflow), and tE (temperature) errors simultaneously. Before replacing parts in winter, check for frozen supply hoses, drain lines, and sensor hoses. Use a hair dryer to defrost. Consider recommending the customer relocate the washer to a warmer area.

Drain pump foreign material is the #1 drain error cause

The most common cause of nd (drain) errors is foreign material collected in the drain pump ASSY — specifically coins, buttons, hair pins, rubber bands, bills, cotton, and bra underwires. Always check and clean the drain pump filter before replacing any parts.
