2 technician insights for the Samsung DVE50M7450 Series Dryers (2024)

Dual heater element — test both elements separately

This dryer uses a DUAL heating element (5300W total). When testing, you must check BOTH elements separately: PIN 2-3 should read 13Ω and PIN 1-2 should read 34Ω. One element can fail while the other works, resulting in reduced heating rather than no heating at all. The 'clothes not dried' flowchart references about 10Ω for the heater coil, which is the approximate combined measurement.

Restricted vent system — the #1 cause of heating errors

A restricted exhaust vent system is the most common root cause of overheating errors (tC, tC5, HC). Before replacing any heating components (thermistor, thermostat, heater), always check the vent system first. Common restrictions include: too-long duct runs, too many elbows, flex ductwork, outside hood damper stuck closed, or lint accumulation in the duct. Use a 4-inch rigid metal exhaust duct for best results. Ducting should be inspected and cleaned annually.
