Downloaded cycles via SmartThings app
The DVE(G)50R8500* models support Wi-Fi (2.4GHz) and can download additional cycles via the SmartThings app: TOWELS, SANITIZE, SHIRTS, JEANS, WOOL, ECO NORMAL, SMALL LOAD, LOW TEMP., RACK DRY, and WRINKLE AWAY. To use: select DOWNLOADED cycle on the cycle selector, then press and hold Start/Pause. The app is subject to change without notice.
Moisture Sensor Calibration Issues
Samsung Sensor Dry compares moisture sensor conductivity against thermistor-derived dryness curve Contaminated sensor bars read 'dry' prematurely (shorter cycles, damp clothes) or 'wet' continuously (runs full timer) Dryer sheet residue is the #1 cause — liquid fabric softener does not coat the bars as badly After cleaning sensor bars, run a test load with damp towels on Sensor Dry Normal — cycle should complete in 40-55 minutes
Restricted vent system -- the number one cause of heating errors
A restricted exhaust vent system is the most common root cause of overheating errors (tC, HC). Before replacing any heating components (thermistor, thermostat, heater), always check the vent system first. Common restrictions include: too-long duct runs, too many elbows, flex ductwork, outside hood damper stuck closed, or lint accumulation in the duct. This dryer has a Vent Sensor (DV6000R models) and Vent Blockage Test (all models via Smart Install) to help diagnose vent issues.
