Error Code tE1

Temperature sensor (thermistor) failure — open circuit

Moderate

Address soon - your appliance may not work properly

Also displayed as: tE1

How to Fix

  1. 1

    Power off the dryer immediately.

  2. 2

Enter diagnostic mode: press Power then immediately press Temp and Time; press START/PAUSE to advance.

  3. 3

Note tE1 displayed during diagnostic confirms thermistor open.

  4. 4

Disconnect power and discharge capacitors by touching metal plug of power cord to ground.

  5. 5

Remove NA6 connector from the main PCB.

  6. 6

Short Pin 2 (Blue wire) and Pin 4 (Orange wire) of NA6 connector together with a metal jumper.

  7. 7

If tE1 clears after shorting, the fault is in the thermistor or its wiring harness — not the PCB.

  8. 8

Separate the thermistor harness connector and measure resistance across terminals.

  9. 9

    Compare resistance to Table 1: at 50°F (10°C) expect 18.0 kΩ; at 70°F (27°C) expect 9.3 kΩ; at 100°F (38°C) expect 6.2 kΩ; at 130°F (54°C) expect 2.9 kΩ.

  10. 10

If resistance is out of range or open (infinite), replace the thermistor assembly.

  11. 11

If resistance is in range, inspect the harness-linking connector for corrosion, bent pins, or broken wires.

  12. 12

If connector and harness pass inspection, reconnect NA6 and verify control connector seating.

  13. 13

If fault persists with good thermistor and wiring, replace the main PCB (controller).

  14. 14

Restore power and verify normal operation; confirm no tE1 recurrence.
