Outlet thermistor open or shorted (Thermistor of blower housing)

Moderate

Address soon - your appliance may not work properly

Also displayed as: tE1

How to Fix

  1. 1

    1. Turn off the dryer and call for service.

  2. 2

    2. Enter diagnostic mode: unit in standby, press POWER while pressing MORE TIME and LESS TIME simultaneously, then press START/PAUSE.

  3. 3

    3. Check if tE1 is displayed — indicates thermistor open condition.

  4. 4

    4. Take NA8 connector from the controller. Measure resistance between NA8-pin3 (BL) and NA8-pin2 (YL).

  5. 5

    5. Compare resistance to temperature chart: 50°F(10°C)=18.0kΩ, 60°F(16°C)=14.2kΩ, 70°F(27°C)=9.3kΩ, 80°F(21°C)=11.7kΩ, 90°F(32°C)=7.7kΩ, 100°F(38°C)=6.2kΩ, 110°F(43°C)=5.2kΩ, 120°F(49°C)=4.3kΩ, 130°F(54°C)=2.9kΩ, 140°F(60°C)=3.0kΩ, 150°F(66°C)=2.5kΩ, 160°F(71°C)=2.2kΩ.

  6. 6

    6. If resistance does NOT match chart → go to step 7. If it DOES match → Check if control and 8-pin connector are properly connected; if yes, replace controller.

  7. 7

    7. Separate harness from thermistor assembly connector. Check resistance in range of Table 1.

  8. 8

    8. If resistance is NOT in range → Replace thermistor.

  9. 9

    9. If resistance IS in range → Check harness-linking connector.

  10. 10

    10. Also note: tE1 error displayed — replace the steam generator assembly if associated with steam function.
