Error Code E CH
High Side Cycle Leakage — Refrigerant Leak / Sealed System Problem
Moderate
Address soon - your appliance may not work properly
What This Means
High side refrigerant leak; Restriction in sealed system; Bad compressor; Bad valve
How to Fix
- 1
Step 1: Use SVC App Step 1 to check evaporator temperature — determine if sealed system problem or PCB/normal issue.
- 2
Step 2: If no SVC App, use temperature gun to check evaporator temperature change.
- 3
Step 3: Check PCB voltage output — if PCB is faulty, replace PCB.
- 4
Step 4: Measure high and low side pressures and recovery time — if recovery time to equalization pressure exceeds 15 minutes, sealed system is blocked (restriction).
- 5
Step 5: If equalization pressure is above 20 psi and recovery is normal, compressor is defective — replace compressor.
- 6
Step 6: If equalization pressure is below 20 psi, refrigerant has leaked — locate leak point.
- 7
Step 7: Perform bubble or refrigerant leak detector test on high pressure side parts: compressor discharge pipe, drier, condenser. If leak found, replace leaking part and drier.
- 8
Step 8: If no leak found on high side, check low pressure side: evaporator, suction pipe. If low side leak found, replace both drier and compressor (moisture entry risk).
- 9
Step 9: After sealed system repair, error code clears automatically when freezer temperature reaches 14°F or below.
- 10
Step 10: Optionally install UV drier to trace subtle leaks on follow-up visit using UV light and goggles.
