What This Means

Heater malfunction; Thermostat failure; Restricted vent system causing excessive heat buildup; Thermistor failure

What actually causes this:

Most often caused by a clogged exhaust vent that traps hot air inside the dryer, or the heating element has burned out.

First Thing to Check

Check your exhaust vent — disconnect it from the back of the dryer and look for lint buildup inside.

How to Fix

    1. Call customer service for further diagnosis

    2. Check exhaust vent system for restrictions or blockages

  3. 3

    3. Measure thermistor resistance: should be 10KΩ at 25°C (77°F)

  4. 4

    4. Check thermostat resistance: should be < 1Ω (infinity means replace)

  5. 5

    5. Check heater resistance: DUAL heater — 13Ω (PIN 2-3), 34Ω (PIN 1-2); SINGLE heater — 10Ω (PIN 1-3)

  6. 6

    6. If resistance is infinity on heater, replace heater assembly
