Restricted vent system causing excessive heat buildup; Thermistor resistance out of range giving false temperature readings; Heater element malfunction; Thermostat failure

What actually causes this:

Most often caused by a clogged exhaust vent that traps hot air inside the dryer, or the heating element has burned out.

First Thing to Check

Check your exhaust vent — disconnect it from the back of the dryer and look for lint buildup inside.

How to Fix

    1. Check exhaust vent system for restrictions or blockages

  2. 2

    2. Measure thermistor resistance: should be 10KΩ at 25°C (77°F)

  3. 3

    3. Check thermostat 1 resistance: should be < 1Ω (85°C, 25A thermal cut-off)

  4. 4

    4. Check thermostat 2 resistance: should be < 1Ω

  5. 5

    5. Check thermostat 3 resistance: should be < 1Ω

  6. 6

    6. Check heater resistance: should be approximately 10Ω
