What This Means

Restricted vent system causing excessive heat buildup; Thermistor failure or out-of-range resistance; PCB malfunction; Heater malfunction; Motor or heater not working normally during Smart Install

What actually causes this:

Most often caused by a clogged exhaust vent that traps hot air inside the dryer, or the heating element has burned out.

First Thing to Check

Check your exhaust vent — disconnect it from the back of the dryer and look for lint buildup inside.

    2. Check exhaust vent system for restrictions or blockages

    3. Measure thermistor resistance

    4. Test heater element resistance

    5. Run Smart Install to verify motor and heater operation — display shows 'OK' if normal or 'HC' if motor or heater does not work normally
