What actually causes this:
The switch that detects whether the door is open or closed has worn out or its connection came loose.
First Thing to Check
Open the door, check for anything stuck in the door latch area, then close it firmly and try again.

1. Inspect wire terminals in the door sense circuit for loose or open connections

2. Test door switch with door OPEN: COM-NC (pins 1-3) should read < 1Ω, COM-NO (pins 1-2) should read ∞

3. Test door switch with door CLOSED: COM-NC (pins 1-3) should read ∞, COM-NO (pins 1-2) should read < 1Ω

4. If switch readings are inconsistent or invalid, replace door switch
