What actually causes this:
The switch that detects whether the door is open or closed has worn out or its connection came loose.
First Thing to Check
Open the door, check for anything stuck in the door latch area, then close it firmly and try again.

2. Test door switch: Door open (Off) -- Terminal COM-NC (1-3) < 1 ohm, COM-NO (1-2) = infinity

3. Test door switch: Door closed (On) -- Terminal COM-NC (1-3) = infinity, COM-NO (1-2) < 1 ohm

4. If switch readings are inconsistent, replace door switch
