What This Means
Defrost heater housing separated; Heater contact error or disconnection; Heater short circuit; Temperature fuse error (bimetal); Defrost not completing within 80 minutes
What actually causes this:
The defrost heater burned out or the safety thermostat tripped and will not reset

Look for ice or frost buildup on the back wall inside the fridge — this confirms a defrost problem

1. Use self-diagnostic function to check error before power off

2. Use manual defrost (3rd test mode) — press Power Freeze + Fridge for 8 seconds, then press key to select Fd mode

3. Check defrost sensor temperature — should reach above 50°F (10°C) for refrigerator

4. Measure R DEF heater resistance at CN72 #5 (White) to #3 (Orange) — should be 103/397 ohm ±10% (or 120 ohm ±10% for models without ice maker)

5. Check for 0Ω (heater short) or ∞Ω (wire/bimetal open)

6. If heater is normal, check relay and replace PCB if needed
