Error Code 87C
The compressor inverter is overheating
Critical
Stop using immediately - risk of damage or safety issue
Also displayed as: 87C
What This Means
IPM FET temperature over 120°C; Excessive compressor current draw; Inverter cooling insufficient; Ambient temperature too high; Defective inverter thermal sensor; Defective IPM module
What actually causes this:
The compressor is working too hard or the inverter area has poor ventilation
First Thing to Check
Feel if the compressor area is hotter than normal
Parts Involved
How to Fix
- 1
1. Check FET temperature of PCB (Inverter part)
- 2
2. Normal operating temperature should be below 120°C
- 3
3. Check ambient temperature around compressor area
- 4
4. Ensure adequate ventilation around compressor
- 5
5. Allow compressor to cool before restart
- 6
6. If error continues, replace Inverter PBA
- 7
7. Check for short-circuit in compressor motor
