Error Code 24E

Freezer failed to complete defrost cycle in 120 minutes

Critical

Stop using immediately - risk of damage or safety issue

Also displayed as: 24E

What This Means

Freezer defrost heater housing connector separated or contact error; Defrost heater open circuit; Thermal fuse (110°C, 250V/10A) blown; Bimetal thermostat (BT-121-M) not resetting; Short-circuited heater (0 Ohm)

What actually causes this:

The defrost heater in the freezer coils did not melt the ice buildup — either the heater burned out, a thermal fuse blew, or a wiring connection came loose.

First Thing to Check

Run a forced defrost cycle and feel the back wall of the freezer after 10 minutes — if it stays ice-cold, the heater is likely not energizing.

Parts Involved

F-Evap defrost heater (AC120V 121W Sheath Heater)Thermal fuse (110°C)Bimetal thermostat BT-121-MMain PCB CN70/CN70_1

How to Fix

  1. 1

Enter forced defrost mode (test mode → Fd) and verify heater energizes

  2. 2

Separate Main PCB CN70 and CN70_1 wires from PCB

  3. 3

Measure resistance between CN70 pin 1 and CN70_1 pin 3: 0 Ohm = heater shorted; ∞ Ohm = heater or fuse open

  4. 4

Check thermal fuse continuity (cuts at 110°C)

  5. 5

Check bimetal continuity (opens at 60°C, closes at 40°C)

  6. 6

Verify defrost sensor voltage is 3.1V or higher (sensor below -5°C threshold)
