Error Code 51E
Ice chute heater has an open or short circuit
Moderate
Address soon - your appliance may not work properly
Also displayed as: 51E
What This Means
Connector at Main PCB CN51 slipped out; Open circuit (∞ Ohm) in heater wire; Short circuit (0 Ohm) in heater
What actually causes this:
The heater that keeps the ice dispenser chute from freezing shut has a broken wire or failed heating element.
First Thing to Check
Disconnect CN51 from the Main PCB and check resistance between pins 4 and 6 with a multimeter — infinite resistance means the wire has broken.
Parts Involved
How to Fix
- 1
Remove Main PCB CN51 connectors from PCB
- 2
Measure continuity between CN51 pin 4 and CN51 pin 6
- 3
0 Ohm = heater short; ∞ Ohm = wire open or connector slipped
